PICDAR'S LEADING DIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT SOLUTION NOW AVAILABLE FOR MAC OS X SERVER "PANTHER"
Date of News : 02/02/2004

Picdar's award winning Media Mogul digital asset management (DAM) system is now shipping for Mac OS X Server version 10.3 "Panther". Picdar expects its Panther Server release will be of most benefit to those magazines, picture agencies, publishers and creative businesses where Mac is the dominant platform for both servers and desktop machines.

The Panther Server option is available with all of the Media Mogul industry editions, including the Agency Edition and the Regional Newspaper Edition, and with the Media Mogul Workflow Suites for both Quark and InDesign.

Media Mogul has long been popular among the Mac community for its powerful cross platform client software. At the back end, adding Panther Server support to the existing line-up of Linux, Solaris and other UNIX servers means that Picdar can offer a cost-effective and easily supported solution to manage the digital assets and workflows for the smallest to the largest businesses, irrespective of their preferred hardware base.

Picdar's Media Mogul helps publishers achieve a faster workflow by allowing them to load, find, select and use pictures and other assets easily. It gives publishers all the advantages of better picture management throughout the publishing process, improved cost management and the most flexible ingestion, archive and retrieval of text and images available on the market.

Media Mogul also supports cross media publishing and syndication opportunities 'on the fly' creating potential new revenue streams by selling content to anyone at any point in the publishing process.

"Picdar's Media Mogul for Panther Server provides our customers with a wider choice of interoperability and greater flexibility where Mac is the primary hardware technology. The launch of Media Mogul for Panther Server is especially good news for publishers who would prefer to stay on a single platform across their publishing operation. This move completes the Picdar jigsaw for Mac users in the publishing community," said Andy Heather, CTO, Picdar.

"Panther Server combines the most popular solutions from the open source world with breakthrough management tools to create the most powerful and easy-to-use server for Mac, Windows and UNIX users," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "Publishers taking advantage of Picdar's new Media Mogul and Panther Server can now benefit from a greatly enhanced digital asset environment."
